Inspiration for the Secret Dance of Trees
"Between the Wind & The Tree"
90 x 60 cm
For "Spring Happiness" “Winter Silence” and "Autumn Dance", I experimented with a closer look. While taking a mid-mountain break from Skiing last March, my inspiration came from looking up to the sky as I lay down below a beautiful Pine Tree.
Because we don't live anywhere near the slopes, with every trip comes a new sense of appreciation. How to describe the feeling of peace, of completeness, and happiness when relaxing high above on the slopes? There is nothing quite like it. Feeling exhilarated, extreme joy, yet calm; are all descriptions that come to mind. But, they don't quite reach what I want to describe. That ultimate feeling of achievement for having mastered the slope, yet you feel challenged, as you know you are only half way done... Your senses are hyped and contradicting each other. You are exhausted, your legs hurt, and yet you feel energized. You feel blessed, so lucky, but you are nervous. You feel warm inside, but you still feel the cold snow below you and the fresh crisp air from early Spring.
We grinned like children for the entire week and enjoyed it to the fullest.
It is the child within me that wants to come out and play. These paintings are the result.
